meet marissa

Hi, hello, and welcome to my “about me” page!!

I’m guessing you’re here to try to get a feel for my vibe to see if we’d be a good fit to work together—which is exactly what this page is for! Whoever you choose as your wedding photographer will be with you more than just about anyone else on your wedding day, so it’s super important that you like that person and trust them to be right there with you during all the intimate moments of the day.

Commence the talking about myself…

my philosophy

My philosophy on wedding photography is this: the photos aren’t the most important part of your wedding day. Weird thing for a wedding photographer to say, right?? But it’s true! My number one goal on every wedding day is that the two people getting married enjoy their day to its fullest—and then amazing photos are the byproduct of that.

Don’t get me wrong: posed photos 100% have their place on a wedding day, and I want your photo time (with both your partner + your closest people) to be some of the most fun memories from your wedding day. But the best wedding galleries are filled with amazing portraits AND candid photos that remind the couple of all the special little moments that happened throughout their wedding day.

Side note: I’ve said the above sentiment for years now, but after my husband and I got our own wedding gallery back at the end of 2022, I’ve never been more sure of it. As we looked through our photos for the first time, we pointed out all the ones we wanted to frame but also laughed and teared up at all the ones that transported us right back to how we felt that day.

about me

The 2024 wedding season is my eighth one as a photographer (which is a little wild for me to think about, how did that happen!?). I genuinely love what I do and feel so lucky that my career combines so many things I cherish in this life: celebrations, love in all its forms, helping people see the beauty in themselves and in their relationships, evenings spent on the Chicago lakefront, and cake.

Apart from taking photos of couples in love, I like to spend my free time trying new recipes (mostly pasta dishes or anything with lots of sugar or garlic), riding my bike by the lake, checking out new restaurants around Chicago to find the best food and drinks, and waiting for One Direction to get back together. I love all things burnt orange and velvet, fall easily in love with book + TV characters, and feel most alive when I jump into Lake Michigan off the lakefront trail.

Can’t wait to hear from you!
